Why Tallow?

Tallow contains fatty acids similar to those naturally found in the skin's lipid barrier. Its rich, emollient texture helps soften skin and create a protective layer that slows moisture loss, making it especially nice for areas that tend to feel dry or rough.

Why does my body butter feel different depending on the temperature?
That’s normal. Tallow naturally responds to temperature. Your butter may become softer during warmer weather and firmer when it’s cool. These texture changes do not necessarily mean anything is wrong with the product.

What if my body butter melts?
Warm temperatures can soften or melt whipped tallow. Place it somewhere cool and allow it to firm back up before using. Melting may cause the whipped texture to change or lose some of its fluffiness, but the product can still be used.

How should I store it?
Store your body butter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Keep the container closed when not in use and avoid introducing water into the jar.

How much should I use?
Less than you think. Because this formula doesn't contain added water, it is very concentrated. Start with a small amount, massage it in, and add more only if needed.

Will it feel greasy?
Tallow is a rich moisturizer, so using too much can leave a heavier finish. When applied sparingly and massaged thoroughly into the skin, it should leave skin feeling conditioned rather than coated. If you still feel excess on the surface, you probably used more than you needed.

When is the best time to apply it?
We love it right after a bath or shower, once skin is clean and dry. You can also use it anytime your skin needs a little extra moisture.

Where can I use it?
Apply to the body wherever extra moisture is needed—arms, legs, hands, feet, elbows, knees, and other dry areas.

Can I use it on my face?
This body butter was created primarily for the body. Tallow is a rich ingredient and may feel too heavy for some facial skin types. If you choose to use it on your face, start with a very small amount and patch test first.

Why isn't every jar exactly the same?
This is a whipped product made with naturally temperature-sensitive ingredients. Slight differences in firmness, fluffiness, or texture can happen from batch to batch and with seasonal temperature changes.
